Image # A58-206; I captured this image while visiting historic Ft. Larned, Kansas.  In order to get this shot, I was lying on the ground under the wagon.  The closest building in this image is part of "Officers´ Row" which consisted of three buildings: the Commanding Officer's quarters and two Company Officers´ quarters.  The company officers´ quarters housed six officers and their families.  A Captain received a total of three rooms: a parlor, bedroom and a kitchen with attached servant's quarters.
Lieutenants received one room apiece.  A boardwalk and railing ran the length of Officers´ Row.  Generally only officers and their families would be allowed on the boardwalk.  No enlisted man was allowed behind the railing without permission of an officer.
