Image # A58-171; I captured the image of this massive three story barn, measuring 60 by 110 feet, it was constructed with hand-cut native limestone rock in the early 1880’s which makes it sturdy and fireproof. Limestone also kept the barn cool in the summer. This barn is part of the Z Bar/Spring Hill Ranch; which is now known as the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve; and was designated as a National Historic Landmark in February of 1997. This national preserve; is located in the heart of the flint hills near Strong City, Kansas.
