Image #’s A58-228, 275, 276, 243;  I captured these images of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Atchison, Kansas. The plans for this church were drawn up by the same architect who built the Trinity Church at the head of Wall Street in New York City.  Pine lumber imported from the east was supposed to be used in the building, but it cost $100 per 1,000 board feet, while a local sawmill could provide lumber from the trees cut along the Missouri River for only $40 per 1,000 board feet.  As a result, all lumber used in the church, timbers, floor joists, rafters and roof is black walnut. First services in this building were held in March of 1868.  Famous woman aviator Amelia Earhart was baptized here in 1897.  The images of the beautiful windows and Sanitary were captured from inside this historical church.
