Image #'s A58-424, 177, 425;  Tucked away in the rolling landscape of the Kansas Flint Hills near Strong City; one may come upon the remnants of this old one room schoolhouse.  I have titled these images of this website page “Back to Basics.”  Providing a basic education for their children was a high priority to prairie settlers.  Classes began here at the Lower Fox Creek School in 1884, and continued until 1930.  From their little prairie school, local children were introduced to the world.  Some of them stayed to inherit family ranches, while others went off to explore the places they had only seen on schoolhouse maps.  I captured the (left and right) images to illustrate the modern facilities of that time.
